Sometimes My Heart Feels

This is a poem I wrote when I was in Writers' Club.
This was when I was in 3rd grade.
The poem's title is called Sometimes my Heart feels.
At the time I wrote this, I recall that we were learning how to write a 'killer last line'.
So as you can notice, at first there is a pattern of how I wrote this, but later at the last line that changed and I wrote what I could to get close to that killer last line.
Please tell me what you think of this poem through comments!

Sometimes my heart feels like a kid groaning because of

too much homework.

Sometimes my heart feels like a balloon popping in the

park.

Sometimes my heart feels like a hummingbird

twitting from flower to flower.

Sometimes my heart feels like a pencil breaking.

Sometimes my heart feels like a present waiting to be

opened.

Sometimes my heart feels like a hamster scampering in

circles.

Sometimes my heart feels like autumn leaves swirling in the

sky.

Sometimes my heart feels like a pancake flipping in the air.

Sometimes my heart feels like a rose blooming in spring.

My heart has been thoughtful all of these

but it always is the lake reflecting the rainbow.

Kids in a small town Kent across the Pacific Ocean

Hello!

My name is Jisue Kang and I go to Osong Elementary School. I am in the third class of fifth grade. Today, I would like to talk about how kids spend a year in a small town named Kent in the United States.

After a long flight over the Pacific Ocean, you get to Los Angeles on the west coast of the United States. Then, over the Rocky Mountain, to Yellowstone National Park, through the prairie, under the Gate Arch, south of the great Lake Erie, the small town Kent is located in northest Ohio.

When winter snow melts down, everything turns green, and birds fly back up from the south, there in Kent, one of the most fun things to do is go Easter Egg Hunting on the second Sunday of April. Also, families go strawberry and blueberry picking in June.

Once summer arrives at Kent, lots of things happen. At night on Independence day which is on the fourth of July, families come out together to watch awesome fireworks with their kids waving sparklers. Families go to the ball park to watch a baseball game of the Cleveland Indians. Kids big their dads to take them fishing on a lake. For summer vacation on the east coast, families spend time at the beach and go crab fishing. After that long 3 month summer break, one of the most important days comes.... BACK TO SCHOOL DAY! ON the weekend before back to school day, moms and kids go to Wal* Mart for school supply sales!!!

In the chilly fall, do you know the day kids love? HALLOWEEN! On the last day of October kids say "Trick or Treat" and get loads of candy. Families visit apple farms for their fresh apples to make apple pies and cider. And I can't forget that it's football season, the season when all families watch games on TV. Also, you have to be thankful for THANKSGIVING! Big families gather and everyone eats the basic Turkey with mashed potatoes.

Finally, in snowy winter every kid waits for Christmas. Plus, with all that snow, boys and girls in town go snow-sledding. A short break with got cocoa near the fire place is on e of the happiest moments in winter. At night, kids cheer while they watch LeBron James and his team, the Cleveland Cavaliers, routing the other team. And then it starts a new year and kids are ready to star all over again.

I always miss the precious times I've had in that small town Kent, and I hope all of you here can share my wonderful experience.

Thank you for listening!

We need to Unite with North Korea

Hello everyone! My name Jisue Kang and I am in class 22. Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to talk about a subject that is sensitive especially now a days, because of the recent Bombardment of Yeonpyong, and the Cheonan ship sinking. You can guess what my topic is right? It is about how we need to unite with North Korea. I will tell you 2 reasons about why I think this, and also add what we could do to take little steps in order to have this happen. So let’s get started.

My first reason is because we are all one nation. All one people, all one country! We divided when Russia and America made the Korean Occupation Agreement without Korea's permission. This divided our thoughts between the 38˚ line. Afterwards we ended up in the Korean War in 1950. Since then our country has advanced a lot in economy. On the other hand, the North is still struggling and living in poor conditions. Because we are one country, we need to unite and help the North so we can become even stronger. We also need to help them not only for economic development, but also to help the families that have been separated. Every year, the families that never met, will never get the chance to meet again. Yes, they are disappearing. Why? Because it has been too long since our country divided. So I feel that it is crucial for our and the North's sake, for us to get these families together while some of them are still alive.

My second reason is because we need to rid the image of war between us from the world. Every time North Korea attacks us, the world quakes in fear that we might start a war again. When the Cheonan ship sank, our country's boat stocks went down. I know that we cannot just stand and take the attacks, we must do something. I agree. They shouldn't attack us for any reason. So that is why we should make a better impression to North Korea so that they will not attack us and in fact, work with us. On the other hand, sometimes people in our country fear North Koreans or even hate them because of this. (And personally I understand them too.) Now this leads me to telling you about how we can take baby steps to our unification.

Ladies and gentlemen, many people get the idea that North Koreans are violent and do not like them. We need to fix these ideas and make this right. The north is one of us. They are a part of our history, our country, our blood. The teachers of our nation should teach students countrywide that North Koreans are not bad people and we shouldn't judge them in this way. Yes, we might have had a bad past with them but we should - no we need to go past this and make a better reputation of North Korea. That way our people would have interest in helping the North, and in uniting once again.

Also, I learned that we are working at this very hard, but I would like to emphasize the donations or things we do for North Korea. Our country has done the "rice of love" campaign, and has found some of the separated families, and have had them meet at least once before they - well let's say, pass. Plus, I would like to add that I think we were doing a good job at trying to get also with North Korea. I mean things like our presidents meeting, or like before at one of the Olympics, Korea itself came out together for the opening ceremony.

Another way for us to work with the North is to help them progress in their country. We give them a little rice, build a few schools every now and then, and then when we unite, it would be a much easier job to get people to move there, and catch up on the economy. If we did this, then it would be much easier to put our powers together and make a strong nation rather than after we become one, then we have to make new buildings and get people to move there, find the lost and separated families. That would be a disaster. So let’s start now.

To conclude, I want to firmly state what I want to say. I say that we need to unite with North Korea. I said 2 reasons to prove this: the first is because we are one nation; the second is because we need to erase the thoughts that we will have a war from the world. Finally I talked about what we can do to make the unification happen. I hope together, we can make this dream come true. Thank you for listening!

American Schools vs. Korean Schools

Korean School (Actually my school!)
Hello! My name is Jisue Kang. I am in the 3rd class of 6th grade. Today I am going to talk about the differences between American schools and Korean schools. These are from my experiences of living in the United States.

There are many things that are different in each school. I will start with the classrooms. The big chalkboard in America is in a fixed position. On the other hand, in Korea, you can move the chalkboard up and down. Also, in America, the chair and desk height levels cannot be changed, unlike in Korea where they can be adjusted.

Next, I would like to talk about the restrooms in each school. In America, there are tissues in every stall. But in Korea, you have to use you own tissues. Plus, in Korea, not all of the restrooms have warm water and the lighting isn't that good. But in America, you can use warm water and there are bright lights. Overall, I think that American restrooms are better.

There are other differences that I haven't mentioned either. Such as in America, some students ride school buses, but in Korea most students walk to school. Also, In America lots of students pack lunch unlike in Korea where almost all students eat the lunch that the school gives you. Plus, in America, you would wear the same shoes you wore outside in school, but in Korea, you need to change your shoes when you come into the school.

American School (My former school!)
Anyway, let’s not only look at the hardware, let’s look at the software. I am talking about things such as how teachers teach students. In Korea, teachers are able to physically punish students, but in America you can't. Also, In America, teachers usually use chalkboards, overheads, or occasionally smart boards. In Korea, teachers use TVs and computers to teach as well as chalkboards.

Another difference I noticed is tests. In America, the subject of the test changed every grade, and the tests were very long. We took them twice a year. But in Korea, you take 2 tests every semester. It’s like midterms and finals, but they are very short. Plus on the finals you have to take subjects such as music, art, physical education.

So today I talked about the differences between American schools and Korean schools. Things such as how in Korea, you take breaks between classes, but in America, you take one long break at lunch.

Thank you for listening!

D-4

D-4. Only 4 days left until the end of GLPS camp...
I mean, it feels only like last week when I was going up and down the stairs looking for my classroom in the wrong building.
I feel sad to leave all my friends here, and I don't want to face the fact that I may never see them again and we might not even remember each other by even next year.
It felt like it was only yesterday when I didn't remember my own roommate's names, but now I recall yesterday, I took Jun Young's jacket, I played 'Slide' with Sua, and I made copies of my handout with Angella.
I think time goes too fast.
I like this school very much and I am used to working in my room at my desk with the mini-lamp on.

Zombie Kid likes Turtles

This kid became famous just for 3 words. I. Like. Turtles.
It must be cool for him to become a star for such simple and random words.
But is this really necessary?
I think that being famous for just a reason like this is stupid(?).
If I were to become famous, I would want people to know me for something smarter that just for liking something like dolphins at a Christmas party.

Ode to Froggy Doggy's Pink Socks

Dear Froggy Doggy's Pink Socks,

Oh how you kept his feet warm,
But only to be betrayed by his Obama socks

With your rosy pinkness,
and your fuzzy softness you held onto his warmth,
But only to be betrayed by his Obama socks

With you and your ally; his shoes,
You won the war against the evil snow
But only to be betrayed by is Obama socks

What you did to get this punishment
I do not know,
I am curious,
I will ask,
Why were you betrayed by his Obama socks?

Why do you not answer..
Why are you silent..
I am waiting..
I am getting impatient..

I cannot wait any longer
I suppose it is time for me to betray you.
At least his Obama socks has a mouth

Farewell,
Goodbye,

1st 2nd and 3rd Narratives

I made up this story none of it is true. But I made a mistake in typing this, I was trying to put the posts in 1st 2nd 3rd order. I did that by typing the order backwards. After I posted all of it, I realized that the story is backwards too... So you will have to read it starting from the 3rd person narrative for it to make sense! Sorry^^;;

1st person Narrative.

I thought that I had ust made a fool out of myself and just dragged a chair to one of the girls table and sat down quietly. But then I realized that everyone is still staring at me. My bag broke the silence with the sound it made as it cluttered to the ground. I thought, ''How could this day get any worse..' My terrible day continued with my 2 minute debate speeches that were supposed to be 5. Plus, even though I ate the crackers that I snuck into class, my stomach actually hurt because it was hungry. As the lunch bell rang I swear I ran at lighning speed to the elevator, fortunately got the first one and went straight to the elevator. I put as much as I could put on my plate and began scarfing it down like a pig who han't eaten in days. Just as I finished stuffing it into my mouth, a guy in my class, (I can't recall who..) took a picture with his cellphone. Will my bad luck ever end??

2nd Person Narrative

You see the PA is clearly surprised. She tells me that she will let you off the hook this time, but next time it's a yellow card. Relieved, you run to the teachers' elevator because you don't have time to wait for the student's elevator. Thankfully there were no teachers who caught you. You run but you realize that the snow is really deep and it is piling up. You say to yourself how you are probably the most unlucky person in the world, and burst in the classroom with you hair covered in snow, your shoes wet, and your student ID card wildly tangled.

3rd Person Narratve

Jisue wakes up to her roomate's voice. Jisue!! It's 7:55! We need to eat! Jisue realizes that she won't make it. She will have to put up with her stomach complaints until lunch. Jisue said, "Just go without me! I don't think I can make it until 8!" Her roomates said, "Should I get you some toast??" Jisue shouted, "If you can!!" Her roomates slammed the door shut and went to have the pleasant breakfast that Jisue would never have today. Jisue grumbles, "Well scratch breakfast off my list, might as well shower..." When she came out, it was 8:20. My the time Jisue was out the door she was late. It ws 8:30, but luckily she only had to go to the english building. The split second she went out the door, she ran smack into her room PA who was checking the dorms.

The Handout

About the Titanic

*On April 10, 1912, the Titanic left Southampton, England to go to New York City.

 *It had cost $7.5 million, took 3000 men, and 2 years to build it.

 *It was said to be the safest ship ever built, so safe that she carried only 20 lifeboats (enough to provide accommodation for only half her 2,200 passengers and crew)

The Accident

 *The collision with the iceberg occurred at 11:40 P.M. on Sunday, April 14, 1912.

 *The ship sank in less than 3 hours. That means that Titanic sank at a rate of 10 miles per hour (or 16 km per hour).

 *Claimed 1517 lives. Only 705 survived.

 *Women and children took lifeboats first.

Information Afterwards/The Titanic Today

 *The Titanic was rediscovered on July 14th, 1986. 74 years after it sank.

 *The two pieces of the Titanic lay 1,970 feet apart from one another on the ocean floor

 *Since the death of Millvina Dean, May 31st of 2009, there are no longer any living survivors of the Titanic tragedy.

 *Visits by tourists in submersibles, and the recovery of artifacts are making the decay of the ship faster.

 *It is estimated that the hull and structure of the ship may collapse to the ocean floor within the next 50 years

The Movie

 *Released on December 19th 1997, it was produced by James Cameron.

 *Is known as an American epic romance and disaster film.

 *194 minutes (3hrs 14min) long, it was nominated for fourteen Academy Awards, eventually winning eleven.

 *With a worldwide gross of over $1.8 billion, it was the first film to reach the billion dollar mark. And it remained like that for twelve years until James Cameron’s next movie Avatar, surpassed it in 2010.

 *Planned to be re-released in 2012 in 3-D.

Interesting Facts/My Thoughts

 *2 dogs were among the Titanic survivors

 *The Titanic is about as long as the Empire State building is tall.

 *The lookouts in the crow's nest did not have binoculars. (I thought that having binoculars might have prevented the Titanic tragedy.)

 *ALL the 1st class children survived.

 *The first lifeboat launched was Lifeboat 7 on the starboard side with 28 people on board when it could have saved 65.

 *I thought this was sad because even if they filled the capacity of each lifeboat, they still would have left a thousand people behind. So they should have saved anyone they could have.

 *Because women and children got to the lifeboats first, one man dressed as a woman to escape

My Last History Presentation: The Titanic

One of the most famous shipwrecks. 1,517 deaths. The Titanic. Hello, my name is Jisue Kang and My topic is to tell you about the Titanic. First I will tell you about the Titanic before the accident, and how the accident happened, about what information we have found after the disaster, the conditions of it today, about the movie they made after it, and finally few interesting facts, and my thoughts about the Titanic.
On April 10, 1912, the Titanic, largest ship afloat, left Southampton, England on its maiden voyage to New York City. The White Star Line (the company that built the Titanic, and was owned by J.P. Morgan, an American tycoon.) had spared no expense in assuring its luxury. It had cost $7.5 million, took 3000 men, and 2 years to build it. A legend even before it sailed, its passengers were a mixture of the world's wealthiest basking in the elegance of first class accommodations and immigrants packed into steerage. She was said to be the safest ship ever built, so safe that she carried only 20 lifeboats (enough to provide accommodation for only half her 2,200 passengers and crew). This discrepancy rested on the belief that since the ship's construction made her "practically unsinkable," her lifeboats were necessary only to rescue survivors of other sinking ships. Additionally, lifeboats took up valuable deck space. It stood 25 stories high, and weighed an incredible 46,000 tons.

Now I will go on about the disaster. The collision occurred at 11:40 P.M. on Sunday, April 14, 1912, and claimed 1517 lives. The gash that the iceberg cut into the hull of the Titanic was between 220 to 245 feet long. The total length of the ship was approximately 882 feet. The ship sank in less than 3 hours. Only 705 survived. That means that Titanic sank at a rate of 10 miles per hour (or 16 km per hour). According to the builders of the Titanic, even in the worst possible accident at sea, the ship should have stayed afloat for two to three days. This is why some people think that the Titanic’s sinking also had something to do with the flaws in the design. They also recorded that before they struck the burg, the wireless operators had received several ice warnings from others ships in the area, the Titanic continued to rush through the darkness at nearly full steam. When the ship was going down they tried to save as many people as possible. Women and children took the life boats first.

From now I will talk about what information we have found about the Titanic, and the conditions of it under the sea. The Titanic was rediscovered on July 14th, 1986. 74 years after it sank. It lies 12,600 feet (over 2.33 miles) at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean. The two pieces of the Titanic lay 1,970 feet apart from one another on the ocean floor. Because the front section of the Titanic went down nose first, the bow is buried 60 feet below the ocean floor. The huge gash is also buried. (Recent technology has allowed visual access to the damaged area of the hull) Since the death of Millvina Dean, May 31st of 2009, there are no longer any living survivors of the Titanic tragedy. Millvina Dean was just nine weeks old at the time of the ship’s sinking. April 14th, 2012 will be the 100th anniversary of the Titanic's sinking. Right now, many scientists, including Robert Ballard, are concerned that visits by tourists in submersibles, and the recovery of artifacts is making the decay of the ship faster. Underwater microbes have been eating away at Titanic's steel since the ship sank, and because of the recent visitors National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration estimates that "the hull and structure of the ship may collapse to the ocean floor within the next 50 years. Eventually there will be nothing left but a rust stain.

Now about the movie. Titanic the movie was released on December 19th 1997. It was produced by James Cameron. He is the same person who made the hit movie Avatar. The movie is known as an American epic romance and disaster film. It ran for 194 minutes, and it was nominated for fourteen Academy Awards, eventually winning eleven. It became the highest-grossing film of all time, with a worldwide gross of over $1.8 billion and it was the first film to reach the billion dollar mark. And it remained like that for twelve years until Cameron's next movie Avatar, surpassed it in 2010. Titanic is also ranked as the sixth best epic film of all time in AFI's 10 Top 10 by the American Film Institute. The film is due for theatrical re-release in 2012 after James Cameron completes its conversion into 3-D.

While I was researching, I found many interesting facts that amused me. One of them was that 2 dogs were among the Titanic survivors. Also, the Titanic is about as long as the Empire State building is tall. The lookouts in the crow's nest did not have binoculars. I thought that having binoculars might have prevented the Titanic tragedy. Another fact is that ALL the 1st class children survived. The first lifeboat launched was Lifeboat 7 on the starboard side with 28 people on board when it could have saved 65. I thought this was sad because even if they filled the capacity of each lifeboat, they still would have left a thousand people behind. So they should have saved anyone they could have. What I found was funny was that the ship was still so brand new when passengers boarded it on April 10, 1912 that the paint was still wet in some spots. Plus, because women and children got to the lifeboats first, one man dressed as a woman to escape.

So I talked about what the Titanic was like before the accident, about the disaster, about what information we have found after the disaster, the conditions of it today, and finally a few interesting facts, and my thoughts about the Titanic.

Compare and Contrast Essay- "Oustside my Window"

I have to compare my house to Durdane's house in Istanbul. Outside her window she sees definitely many more diferent things than me. I will write what my house is like, and what her house is like. Then I will compare both houses' vibes. (This assignment is at Mr. Garrioch's Blog so check it out and find the link for Outside My Window, or just click right here!↓)

My house is in Jeonju. It is an apartment. I live on the 11th floor In my room if you look outside the window, you see a new market called 'GS Super' and behind that is a garden and lots of trees. Since it is high, I can also see my school behind the trees. From the school you can see the crosswalk and there, students are buying stuff from the supply stores.

Durdane's house in Istanbul is high too, but also unfinished, do to the fact that they are still building up as people move in. Inside her house is decorated with red and looks very comfortable.

The house's vibes are totally different. First, our house is merry and happy and you are able to see many happy things from our window. But over in Istanbul I would find it rather depressing to look out to gray unfinished buildings. But, she said that she often has the neighborhood over, and I think that because she is lonely, she would be the most happy at that time. The neighborhood is a very good family to her. I can say that we aren't exactly that close to our neighbor..

I can tell that there are a lot of differences between our houses, but I cannot say that mine or hers is better that the other. We all have our own houses and our thoughts are all different so I think there is no need to judge such things. If you are happy with your house, and I'm happy with mine, then everything's fine!

The Role Columbus' Discovery made in the Slave Trade.

Hello my name is Jisue Kang and I am in class 22. My topic is to tell you about the Role Columbus’ discovery made in the slave trade. First I will tell you about what slave trade means, then origin of slave trade, and finally I will close with how Columbus’ discovery impacted slave trade.

Just to begin, shortly slave trade means traffic in slaves; especially in Black Africans transported to America in the 16th to 19th centuries. It also means the capturing, selling, and buying of slaves.

Now I will go on about slave trade origin. Slavery has existed throughout the world from ancient times, and trading in slaves has been equally universal. Slaves were taken from the Slavs and Iranians from the ancient times (so the times preceding the Middle Ages) to the 19th century, from the sub-Saharan Africans from the 1st century AD to the mid-20th century, and from the Germanic, Celtic, and Romance peoples during the Viking era. Elaborate trade networks developed: for example, in the 9th and 10th centuries, Vikings might sell the East Slavic slaves to Arab and Jewish traders, who would take them to Verdun and León, where they could be sold throughout Moorish Spain and North Africa. The transatlantic slave trade is perhaps the best-known. In Africa, women and children but not men were wanted as slaves for labor and for chain descendant (lineage) incorporations; from circa 1500, captive men were taken to the coast and sold to Europeans. They were then transported to the Caribbean or Brazil, where they were sold at auction and taken throughout the New World. In the 17th and 18th centuries, African slaves were traded in the Caribbean for molasses, which was made into rum in the American colonies and traded back to Africa for more slaves.

Now, I will start on how Columbus’ discovery effected slave trade. African slaves were first brought to the new world after its discovery by Christopher Columbus. And they could be found on Hispaniola (site of present-day Haiti) as early as 1501. In the Bahamas, Columbus himself captured seven of the natives for their "education" on his return to Spain. However, the slave trade only began in 1518, when the first black cargo direct from Africa landed in the West Indies. The importation of black slaves to work in the Americas was the inspiration of the Spanish bishop, Bartolomé de Las Casas, whose support of black slavery was motivated by "humanitarian" concerns. He argued that the enslavement of Africans and even of some whites would save the indigenous Ameri-indian populations, which were not only dying out but engaging in big battle as they opposed their extremely harsh conditions. As a result, Charles V(the 5th), then king of Spain, agreed to the asiento (or slave trading license) in 1513, which later represented the most envied prize in European wars as it gave to those who possessed it a monopoly in slave trafficking. The widespread expansion of the oceanic slave trade can be attributed to the enormous labor demanded by sugarcane, one of the first and most successful agricultural crops to be cultivated by slaves. The earliest money making Spanish sugar plantations were in the Caribbean and West Indies on the islands of Haiti, Cuba, and Jamaica, while Portugal controlled large areas of Brazil. However, Spanish and Portuguese domination of the trade was soon challenged by other Europeans, including the British. One of their earliest adventurers, Sir John Hawkins, undertook his first voyage between 1562 and 1563 and as a direct consequence of his gains was knighted by Elizabeth I. By the late sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries, the Dutch had also secured prominence by founding the Dutch West India Company, taking control of northern Brazil, and conquering the slave-holding fort of Elmina on the West African coast. Among Britain's major slave-trading successes was Barbados (and later Jamaica, seized from Spain), upon which sugar was cultivated by Africans imported by the Royal African Company, founded in 1672 to protect a British monopoly in the trade. Throughout the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, Britain's transatlantic slaveholding empire was incomparable. By using vessels that embarked from the ports of Liverpool, Bristol, and London, Britain traded slaves from diverse areas of the African continent: from Senegambia south to the Gambia River as well as within Sierra Leone (later a settlement of British missionaries), the Gold Coast, the Bight of Benin, and West-Central Africa. The main African tribes associated with the slave trade were the Ibo, Mandingo, Ashanti, Yoruba, and Ewe and each responded very differently, with various consequences, to white processes of enslavement.

So today I talked about the meaning of slave trade, origin of slave trade, and how Christopher Columbus impacted slave trade. Thank you.

Diamante Poem(s)

Water, Fire

Water
wet, cool
freezing, chilling, numbing
ice, dew, campfire, candles
burning, melting, drying
hot, smoke
Fire

Water is wet and feels cool on my face. hen it is cold water feels freezing, chilling, and numbing. Water turns into ice, pretty water is dew. The happiest fire is a campfire, the cutest one is a candle. You burn something for fire, things melt, or you dry things by a fire. Fires are hot, and smoke comes out.

Pencil, Eraser

Pencil
bold, strong
writing, making, drawing
lead, wood, rubber, chemicals
erasing, losing, smudging
cautious careful
Eraser

When I write I press hard making we feel strong, which makes me think of the word bold. You write with a pencil, you make words, and draw with it too. Pencils are made from lead and wood, erasers are made from rubber and chemicals. With and eraser you erase, lose words, and smudge pencil lead. You have to erase cautiously or else you might erase something else, so you need to be careful.

Debate- THB that it is better to have fun than to work

(I was on the Government side for this debate and I was the Government Whip)

As the last speaker of this debate, I am going to clarify once again our claims on why we biliece that is is vetter to hace fun than to work.

We had 4 claims.
First, we need to play at least a little or else working will Give us mental damage. Our reasoms on this were "working too hard effects your brains negatively and exhausts you." Also, sone eioke becone adicts to their work and take everything too literally according to a website on the internet that we browsed.
Second, working too hard causes physical damage. Our reasons for this is that, too much work a\can result to incurable illnesses. Our other reason is if you work too long without playing ot having fun, some parts of you body ache such as you shoulders, head, fingers, or eyes.
The third claim is social Damage. One of the reasons is that if you don't have fun or play with other people much, then your social relations wit you friends would not be good. Also in connection with our Mental damage claim, you will only think about working, you will only think about your work so you will not have many conversations so your personality would change into someone who is a very quiet and timid person.
For our final claim we say that hacing fun, can also help in Economic Devlopment. We are not saying that we sould not work, we mean that we should have balance in having fun, and working. THat was if people play, they will be less stressed, and they will be able to work well, therefore, causing a rise in our economic development.

Our opposing tean said that if you don't work you can't make money but we defined repeatedly that having fun or restin is what we do between periods of work time. We never said that having fun is playing all day. Plus, the subject of this debate was on mature adults working. Not kids studying. So I think the opposition should stay on the topic. Also, they said that our whip said something that he never said when he was talking. I would also like to point out that he said whatever he needed to because the POI was irrelevant to the topic. I would ask that next time the opposition whip would get their facts right and explain more clearly because it soulds like they don't know what they are saying. We couldn't understand what they were talking about.

So Ladies and Gentlemen, we the government are proud to stand on the side that velieves in fun and not working all the time. Thank you.

Viral Youtube Video

These videos were made by a guy named Josh.
He changes the lyrics to a song and makes his own funny music video. I don't know his last name, but he has many other parodies of music, and he also has his own series of videos called 'Randomness with Josh', 'Josh vs. Fred', 'How to solve a Rubik's Cube in 30 seconds' and more! What he does may look stupid to adults, but to people like me, his videos strike as super hilarious. And thanks to people who think the same thing as me, he gets over 10,113,800 views!

S.A.T. Style Reflective Essay - "Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter, Spring"

First comes Spring, then Summer, Fall, Winter. Hello, my name is Jisue Kang and I have had and experience like the boy in the spring part of the film. Before I tell you that, I weil write what I think the monk is trying to say, and how he got the message through to the boy.

The student tied a rock to each a fish, a frog and a snake. What I think this means is that the boy took advantage of nature and layed with life. The monk is teaching the boy to respect nature and see life as an important thing.

To teach the student, the monk did exactly what the boy did to the animals back at him. He tied a really big rock to his back. I have had an experience like this before. No, not the rock part. I mean the same thing coming back at me part.

Before, when I was at home, my sister and I were talking, and I asked her to throw my trash away. She threw it away for me, but then I asked her to get something for me. She was a little annoyed, but she got it for me. Then I started telling her to do this and do that. She got mad and we had a fight. Then , our mom came in and scholded and asked why we were fighting. I thought that my sister would tell on me, I would get in trouble, and it woul be all over.

I was wrong. My mom didn't say anyting and left. Later, she asked me to get her cellphone. Then she made me run a few errands. After I ran and came back, she told me to do the dishes tonight. Later at night, she told me to do more math. By then I understood what sh was trying to tell me. I learned something valuable that day. Don't dish out anything that I can't take.

Debate: THB that TV is better than Books.

(I was on the opposition side and was the reply speaker. We did the same topic with 2 teams.)

Hello ladies and gentlemen? My name is Jisue Kang. As the reply speaker, I woud like to summaraze the major clashes and emphasize the points that our team has claimed.

Out arguments were:
#1- Too much TV is not good for people's health, and we supported this argument with http://www.kidshealth.org/ arguing that TV harms people mentally and physically.
#2- We spend too much money on TVs. We mainly spend money on 3 main things for TVs. Electricity fees, the after service fees, and the TV itself is expensive.
#3- We can bring books everywhere. However TVs are not portable. Yes, some cellphones have DMB, but not all cellphones have that. Plus, in some areas such as in the high mountains, you cannot get the signal for DMB.

The opposing team's arguments(1st team we were against) were that there are a lot of channels on TV. However we have many types of books too. Also if the opposition says that DMB is a type of TV, than this claim is irrelevant because on DMB, there are only about 5 channels you can watch. They also mentioned that TV gives you pleasure, joy, and happiness. Does that mean books don't give you those? No. There are many fun books too. I would also like to point out that the Deputy Prime Minister mainly talked about smart TVs and the things you can do on them. This is off the topic that we are debating about so it think that with our stong rebuts and claims, we take this debate home. Thank you.

The major clashes were that the opposing team(2nd team we were against) said that TVs were easy to watch. Because they are easier, people would more likely watch more TV or perhaps too much which horms people's health as our Leader of the Oppostion sai. The Government also claims that books aren't good because of comic books. But that doesn't mean that TVs are completely pure either. TVs have many cartoons and comedies that kids like to watch too. They also said that TVs have lots of channels, and buying books to cover that costs a lot. But we rebut this saying that not all channels are all different. Also, one book could cover the information for a few channels which would lower the price significantly. The opposing team states that reading violent books are bad for kids minds. We state that violent TV shows and movies are worse than reading books because people actually can see the violent scenes.

As the last speaker of our team, I would like to emphasize the point that you should start reading books for your own future.

History Presentation: The Characteristics of Humanism and how it was different from Medieval Scholasticism

Hello. My name is Jisue Kang I am in class 22, and my topic was to tell you avout the characteristics of humanism and telling how it was different from medieal scholasticism. I will explain this in 3 main parts. First, I will explain what Humanism is and what characteristics there are. Second I will tell you what kinds of Humanism there is, and finally to conclude, I will compare Humanism and Scholasticism.

Humanism is a term applied to the social philosophy and literary culture of the Western world from approximately 1400~1650, particularly in Italy where the Renaissance began. It also says that Humanism is an approach in study, philosopy, or practice that focuses on human values and concerns. The term can mean several things such as a historical movement (like the Rennaisance). So humanism in simple words is a movement in the 1400's~1650's which basically saw artists and writers look back to the work of the "classics" and they were influenced by ancient Greek classical artists and philosophers. On e of the reasons in which way that happened is because religion became more secular.

There are also many kinds of Humanism. For instance, Renaissance Humanism, a movement starting at the end of the Middle Ages which renewed and interst in classical studies and promote the concept that truth could be discovered by human effort. Plus, Cultural Humanism, a concept that knowledge can be obtained through rational thought and experimentation. It has its roots in ancient Greece and Rome. Secular Humanism is a non-religiously based philosopy promothin humanity as the measure of all things. It had it's roots in the rationalism of the 18th centrury and the thought movement of the 19th century.

Scholsticism comes from the Latin word scholasticus which means "that (which) belongs to the school", and is the school of philsophy taught by the academics of medieval universitios circa 1100~1500. Scholasticism attempted to reconcile the philosopy of the ancient classical philosophers with medieval Christian theology. Scholasticism is not a philosophy or a set of beliefs, but a technique or a method of learning, which puts emphasis on dialectical reasoning.

The primary purpose of scholasticism was to find the answer to a question or resolve a contradiction. It is most well known in its application in medieval theology but was applied to classical philosophy and other fields of study. It is not a philosophy on its own, but a tool and method for learning.

Scholasticism dealt with recent tradition. However, Humanism did not focus all their attention on summarizing and comparing the views of recognized authorities on a text or question, but went directly to the sources themselves. Their most respected sources were classics and the Bible, whereas scholastic rivals were more bound to medieval philosopher and theoliogions.

There seems to be a distinct defference between Humanism and Scholasticism in the Middle Ages. One one side is faith; the other side is reason. Humanism brought in the subjective elements of faith, trust and consience while scholasticism emphasized reason. Thank you.

Writin Chain : "Charlie and the Poisoned Lake" By Class 22

I started this essay with Charlie the Unicorn in Candyland . I personally didn't like how my essay turned out. I think it is because on youtube Charlie has a rougher personality, but in this essay he isn't funny at all. Anyway I hope you enjoy the essay written by Class 22!!

Once upon a time...
It was a dark and stormy nightin Candyland. Charlie the unicon was sleeping in his cave. Then his 2 nonnamed pink and blue friends come in going, "Charlie.Charlie...Chaaaaarlie~ Chaaaarrrlliiiee!" Then Charlie the Unicorn, awakened said "What! What do you want?!" Then his friends said "Let's go to Candy Mountain!!" Grumpily, Charlie replied "But it's too dark to go, and I'm sleepy. Why did you wake me up? If you want to go then go alone." His friends said, "We want to go to the lake" He replied, "The lake we can drink is right there! Just go!" His friends said "We say a person pouring a wierd liquid in ther today." Curious,Charlie said "A liquid??" Totally serious, his friends said "Yeah it was purple..It could be poison!!" Charlie said,"Let's go to the lake." Charlie and his friends went to the lake. There were amny dead fish, and birds. They all went, "Uh oh...They were alive before the man poured that stuff into the lake.. It must be poison!!" Charlie felt so angry that he cried out, "Let's find the man who did this to our lake!" 'It was is unfair. Why did the mand have to do that?' thought Charlie. His friends neighed and ran full speed toward the direction the man went at full speed."We'll catch him and show him what happens if someone pollytes our lake!" said Charlie. They walked up the mountain, and crossed to another lake. However this lake was polluted too! He and his friends were so annoyed that they didn't know it was almost night time. Then they waw a strane house made of bricks and wood, They walked inside the strange home. They were greeted by a cheery girl unicorn who neighed and owed. The unicorns stood there shocked. The girl unicorn explained, "The purple potion you saw doday was a potion to keill the unworthy. Everyone had died, but obviously because you survived, you deserve to live... So now you may find the people who are worthy and together we can live happily!" So the 4 unicorns lived happily ever after.

GLPS

My name is Jisue Kang (강지수) I am in class 22.
When I first came to GLPS I thought that it would be a good camp. I liked the desks and beds espessially. On the other hand I thought that the school buildings that we went to were too far away from the dormitories. I came into room 810 at the same time as another girl. She turned out to be from the same city as me! We got to know each other really fast but her desk was in the other part of our room. Then a girl that was going to share the same room as me showed up with her whole family. Her mom was really nice so it was easier to talk to her. The last girl to come was a little late but she seemed like a quiet girl. We got along with her when we helped her open her package. her mom sent her bad in a box and it was stuck in there so 2 people pulled from one side and one from the other. It was really funny. Our room got along well, but the other room was all quiet and awkward. Luckily that changed in a few days^^
